Huglee – The Ultimate Weighted Blanket

Weighted blankets are a new trend for those looking for ways to cope with anxiety or insomnia. In this article, we will give you an insight into the worthiness of Huglee.

Using deep touch therapy, these blankets function as a weighted duvet gently applying pressure to the body, preventing tossing and turning and encouraging the release of serotonin and decreased production of cortisol. Cortisol is produced by stress and high levels of it can lead to problems such as tension, increased heart rate and blood pressure. The neurotransmitter Serotonin helps contribute to our sense of well being and happiness.

There are many different options when it comes to choosing a weighted blanket.

Review and Discussion – Is It worth it?

One of these is the Huglee weighted blanket. Claiming to be an innovative take on the existing types of weighted blankets, the Huglee weighted blanket comes with some features slightly different than comparable products.

Lined with a soft but breathable pimpled minky fabric, one side is soft and warm. The other side is lined with bamboo compared in quality to premium sheet sets. One detail stands out about this statement, however, as it emphasizes how they have increased the thread count to 300T. This is hardly premium quality and actually is a rather low thread count.

The thread count is important since a higher thread count leads to a softer fabric that will last longer and wear well over time. While 300 thread count is decent quality I would not go as far as to call it premium quality. For example, the weighted blanket such as this one is having 400T.

The next difference emphasized making the Huglee weighted blanket stand out among competitors is the velcro fasteners that save time and are more convenient than the standard tie fasteners. However, although it does take longer to fasten the extra layer when you have to tie each corner, in the end fastening using ties is a more durable option. Velcro can degrade faster if exposed to chemicals or extreme temperatures and will naturally start to wear out over time.

If convenience and decreased time making your bed with the weighted blanket is your priority then this is a good option. If you’re looking to invest in a product with longer longevity, traditional ties might be preferred.

Although it mentions the two sides of soft mink fabric and eco-friendly bamboo, it later goes on to say the only material used is 100% cotton, leaving some confusion about the different fabric materials used overall in the product.

The filling used for the weighted blanket is 0.7mm glass beads. Using glass beads instead of polyester reduces the risk of odors, and the double stitched panels reduce chances of filling spilling into other panels making the weight unevenly distributed, comparable products offer an additional lining between the filler beads and the outside surface to keep you from feeling the beads. The Huglee brand does not offer this.

Wrap up

Is it worth it? Yes, Huglee weighted blanket is still worth a try. All things considered, It is an interesting take on typical weighted blankets, but it may be better to consider other options on the market, as some may offer increased comfort and long-lasting quality.
